🌳 In the heart of the Orne

Set in the unspoilt countryside of Lower Normandy, near the historic town of Sées in the Orne (61), Le Gan Eden covers several hectares of lush pasture. A majestic oak, close to 600 years old, stands at the heart of the estate — a fitting symbol of our attachment to this remarkable land.

Around this patriarch, other oaks — nearly all of them centuries old — watch over the meadows, forming a remarkable green setting that marks out every paddock of the stud.

The region is known for the quality of its grassland and its temperate climate, making it ideal for breeding horses. These wide natural spaces let our horses thrive in an authentic, unspoilt environment.

🌱 Life at semi-liberty

Here, horses live at semi-liberty across wide grass pastures. This respectful approach lets them build their muscle, their steady temperament and their social bonds naturally.

Every day, we personally see to the wellbeing of each animal. The horses live in small, settled groups with natural shelter and water points. This daily closeness builds a bond like no other, and lets us read their behaviour and their health closely.

Our Breeding Philosophy

Every mating is carefully planned and considered. We put health, temperament and the preservation of certain bloodlines ahead of breeding in numbers.

🧬 Genetic Innovation

Colour genetics are a passion of ours, the Dun gene above all — extremely rare in the PRE. We also work with traditional coats, and we hold to the breed standard throughout.

Respect for the horse guides every decision. From the layout of their living space to the choice of breeding stock, everything is designed so our companions flourish in body and mind.

Our Story

Le Gan Eden was born in 2016 out of a deep passion for the Pure Spanish Horse, a noble breed with roots going back millennia. The name evokes the Garden of Eden, a symbol of natural perfection, while the logo — a reworking of Picasso's dove of peace — is a tender tribute to my mother's memory.

Officially recognised by the ANCCE (Asociación Nacional de Criadores de Caballos de Pura Raza Española), the Spanish body that keeps the worldwide PRE Stud-Book, our stud is also a breeder member of the AECE (Association Française des Éleveurs de Chevaux de Pure Race Espagnole), the breed's French counterpart. From our grey horses to our Dun gene carriers, every horse is chosen for its quality, its temperament and its beauty.

The Shows

Since 2022 we have shown in conformation classes in France and Belgium. These events are precious occasions to learn and to talk with fellow enthusiasts.

Every showing lets us measure our selection work and sharpen how we see breeding. The judges' feedback guides us as we go.

A real lesson in humility: every outing teaches us something and moves us forward.

The Dun Gene

It all began in 2020 with the purchase of Redonda IPA, a mare carrying both the Dun and Cream genes. That was the start of my fascination with the Dun gene — extremely rare in the Pure Spanish Horse.

In 2021 I welcomed Mariscal MG, also a Dun gene carrier, son of a stallion shown in conformation classes.

In 2023 a dream came true when I brought in Generosa DRK to my broodmare band: a Dunskin (Isabelle Dun) carrying the Grey gene, a multiple champion in Denmark, together with a filly who turned out to be Smoky Grullo with the Grey gene.

That same year saw the birth of Nevoso GE, who became the stud's head stallion in 2025. A Dunalino Pearl, he carries three rare colour genes at once — Pearl, Cream and Dun — with a more athletic build, a lovely head and, above all, an extraordinary temperament and gentleness.

In 2026, Le Gan Eden is one of the very few European studs with this many Dun PRE — around ten of them — and the only one showing them in conformation & movement classes, as well as offering them for sale on a regular basis.
